I've been on the other side of the advice.
I've spent most of my career leading platform and infrastructure engineering and being accountable for what happened next.
I've received the recommendations. I've made the call when there wasn't a clean answer. And I've been there when the decision met the systems, people, budgets, deadlines, and constraints that weren't on the slide.
That's why I built Hertect.
Experience
I've built it, inherited it, changed it, and had to keep it running.
My background is in platform and infrastructure engineering, but the work has never stayed neatly inside either one. I've led across cloud and platform engineering, developer platforms, reliability, automation, quality, AI infrastructure, and the organizations responsible for them.
A lot of that work has started because something needed to change. I've built new organizations, inherited systems and teams with years of history behind them, and worked through what to keep, what to change, and what wasn't worth disrupting.
I've stayed close to the architecture along the way.
Close to the work
The people closest to the system know things the diagram does not.
I've learned to pay attention to the distance between how something is supposed to work and how people have learned to make it work.
The workaround nobody questions anymore. The dependency nobody wants to touch. The manual step everyone assumes is automated.
Those things aren't outside the architecture. They're part of it.
Who's in the room
I've spent much of my career as one of very few women in the room.
That experience shaped how I lead, what I notice, and ultimately the company I chose to build.
Hertect is woman founded by design.
I pay attention to who has the context, whose voice is missing from the decision, and whether the people who will live with it have been part of making it.
The technically clean answer isn't always the right one. Knowing the difference usually comes from having to live with the decision.
